Someday, Episode #21: Swimmer & 3x Olympic Gold Medalist, Brendan Hansen

Welcome to Someday, where we interview interesting people from around the world to learn about how they make a living. We call it Someday because one day our curious kids may elect to pursue a career in one of these fields. In the upcoming months, we’ll learn: How to become an Artist, the best thing about being a Sushi Chef and the most challenging thing about being a Race Car Driver. Who knows…we might even talk a little ice cream as well. We hope you enjoy!
In episode #21, we sat down with Swimmer and 3x Olympic Gold Medalist, Brendan Hansen. Brendan has been a swimmer since the age of four and swam competitively for 21 years; 15 of which were on the USA National team. He was a member of three Olympic teams (’04, ’08, ’12), collecting six Olympic Medals. He attended the University of Texas and was a sixteen-time All-American and won fourteen NCAA national championships. Finally, he is also a former world record-holder in both the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events (long course). Today, Brendan is the General Manager of Aquatics and Head Coach of the Austin Swim Club based at Austin Aquatics and Sports Academy.
