Whereas the business definition of bottom line is “the line in a financial statement that shows net income or loss,” here we do a quick recap of our progress toward our goals. Several weeks ago, in a post about the Future of Shafer…Power!, I hinted at a new opportunity for the blog. Today I would like to unveil Learning Toys & Tools – a series we’ve created to accelerate the fun and learning we’ve been enjoying along the way.
Inspired by our friends at Mast Brothers Chocolate, the kids and I took a shot at making homemade chocolate bars last Friday evening. As mentioned in a previous blog, the goal was to have them ready for our community-wide thrift sale which was held on Saturday morning. And much like our Jesterbucks coffee stand, the project was a massive success!
I’ve talked a lot recently about our goals for Shafer…Power!, however, I haven’t spent much time discussing how we’re going to accomplish them. Therefore, I’d like to dedicate this post to what I feel are the most important traits of entrepreneurs who are working to change the world…and how the kids and I will try to leverage some of these traits to accomplish our goals.
On the eve of Mother’s Day 2012 I sat down with Kathleen Shafer – the mother of Owen and Malia – to ask her a few questions about motherhood and entrepreneurism. I was pleasantly surprised at a number of her responses and even got an inside peak at how she makes subtle reminders about important holidays without me even knowing.
