Sharing in our Success

If you’ve ever visited the Shafer…Power! blog, you know one of our goals for the journey is to share in our success.  In fact, we shared a story in a recent post about donating food to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.  Well, an interesting thing happened after we made that donation.  We were contacted by CAFB as they wanted to interview us about our entrepreneurial journey and our contribution to their organization.  Below is a re-post of the article from their blog (the original can be found here). July’s AdVenture: Custom Pastries

Welcome to AdVentures.  In this column, we’ll take a closer look at our family’s entrepreneurial venture of the month.  We’ve already hosted a taco wagon and a coffee stand and made and sold homemade chocolate bars.  Rumors of future projects such as publishing a children’s book and designing a girl’s handbag can neither be confirmed nor denied.  As with all AdVentures, the goal is to have some fun with the kids and learn more about entrepreneurism. The Bottom Line: June, 2012

The Bottom Line is a series that was first introduced on the Shafer…Power! blog in April, 2012.  Whereas the business definition of bottom line is “the line in a financial statement that shows net income or loss,” here we do a brief recap of our progress toward our goals.  Since “Earn Some Spare Change” is our fourth goal, we’ll provide an update on our actual bottom line as well.
